Concrete Coating Contractors in Northern Indiana

A SHOWROOM FLOOR
IN JUST ONE DAY

Protecting the Concrete You Depend On
Every garage in Northern Indiana eventually shows its age: oil spots, faint tire marks, and cracks that widen a little more with each freeze and thaw. If your concrete has reached that point, you're far from alone. At Trim-A-Seal, we install polyurea-based concrete coatings through our partnership with Fortress Floors, giving properties across the region a floor built for what Indiana weather delivers season after season.
We're a third-generation, family-owned company that's been part of this community since 1950. Over seven decades, we've watched driveways crack, basements take on moisture, and garage floors wear thin, and we've shaped our business around fixing exactly those problems. Concrete coating is one more way we help homeowners take control of a surface that's given them nothing but headaches.
The Right Finish for Every Surface
Concrete shows up throughout a home or business, and each spot presents its own set of challenges. A garage floor deals with something entirely separate from what a patio faces outdoors. That's why we adapt our approach depending on where the coating is going.
Here's where we typically apply our polyurea systems:
Garage Floor Coatings: Garages take on vehicle weight, oil drips, road salt, dropped tools, and constant temperature shifts. A polyurea coating leaves you with a surface that's simpler to maintain and ready for whatever gets thrown at it.
Basement Floor Coatings: Basement concrete experiences moisture and temperature fluctuations that the rest of the house doesn't. Our polyurea system seals the surface so it resists staining and stays far more manageable to care for.
Exterior Surface Coatings: Outdoor concrete takes a beating from the sun, rain, and freeze-thaw cycles. Polyurea gives patios, sidewalks, stoops, and other exterior areas a clean look that holds its own against the weather.
Concrete Polishing: Coated floors aren't for everyone, and we get that. If you like the raw character of concrete but want it looking its best, polishing might be the better fit. We bring out that natural texture with a smooth finish.
Commercial Floor Coatings: Businesses need flooring that can handle heavy foot traffic and frequent cleaning without breaking down from regular use. Our commercial systems are designed to keep pace with that demand.
Polyurea suits this climate because it remains flexible across temperature extremes. It bonds tightly to concrete, resists UV rays, and helps prevent cracking, staining, and surface wear that untreated concrete tends to develop over the years.

What Makes Polyurea Different
Bare concrete tends to get harder to live with as it ages. Cracks widen, stains set in, dust collects, and the surface becomes less pleasant to walk across or work on. A properly installed polyurea coating changes that picture in several ways, starting with strength: Fortress Floors polyurea delivers roughly four times the strength of standard epoxy, so it withstands impacts, vehicle traffic, and daily foot traffic without breaking down the way thinner systems do.
Beyond that strength, a polyurea floor is much easier to clean. Spills, dirt, and everyday messes wipe away rather than soak into the surface because the coating seals the concrete beneath. You also get some say in how the floor looks, with a range of colors, textures, and finishes available depending on the style you're after. And because polyurea adapts to so many surfaces, it rarely stays limited to just one part of a property.
A Proven Process for Long-Lasting Floors
A coating that lasts starts long before any product touches the concrete. Preparation is where the true work happens, and it's what separates a coating that holds together for decades from one that starts peeling within months. Here's how our process typically unfolds:
Surface Preparation
Our team will grind the concrete using industrial equipment to remove old coatings, sealers, and surface contaminants that would otherwise keep the polyurea from bonding. We'll then vacuum and clean the area thoroughly, checking for cracks or damage that need repair.
This step creates what's called a surface profile, essentially a texture the coating can grip onto, and it's the single biggest factor in how long the new floor performs.
On-Site Mixing
Once the surface is ready, we’ll mix the Fortress Floors polyurea on-site rather than arriving with a premixed batch. Polyurea cures fast once combined, so mixing on-site lets us account for the temperature and humidity of your specific project that day.
Our installers measure and blend the materials with precision, since even small inconsistencies in the mix can affect how the coating cures and bonds.
Base Coat Application
We'll apply the base coat next, rolling and spreading it across the prepared concrete to form the structural bond between the slab and everything applied afterward.
This layer carries most of the coating's strength and flexibility, which is why Fortress Floors backs it with a lifetime product warranty. Depending on the surface, we may also broadcast color flakes or aggregate into this layer for texture or slip resistance.
Top Coat Application
After the base coat sets, we'll follow with a protective top coat that gives your floor its final appearance and its everyday defense against wear. This layer seals in any flakes or texture from the base coat and adds UV and chemical resistance, as well as the sheen you see in the finished product. Fortress Floors covers this layer with a 15-year product warranty.
Final Cure
Your new coating will cure quickly compared to traditional epoxy, and many garage projects wrap up in as little as one day. We'll explain exactly when you can walk on the surface, when it's safe for vehicle traffic, and how long to wait before placing furniture or heavier items back down. You won't be left guessing about timelines.
Why Choose Trim-A-Seal?
Picking a contractor involves more than the product they use. How they prepare the surface, how they run the job, and how they keep you informed all shape the outcome you end up with.

Our team keeps communication clear, scheduling organized, and warranty coverage in place, so nothing about the process catches you off guard.

Frequently Asked Questions
Polyurea flexes and resists impact in ways standard epoxy can't match. Fortress Floors' polyurea outmuscles typical epoxy by roughly 4x, and it's made to take on everything from July heat to January cold without missing a beat.
You'll get a five-year workmanship warranty from us, plus Fortress Floors backs the coating itself with 15 years on the top layer and a lifetime warranty on the base.
Yes! Polyurea seals basement concrete and gives you a surface that's far more manageable than bare, unfinished floors.
We do. Businesses need flooring that can take regular wear without breaking down, and our commercial coatings are built with that pace in mind.
